Nashville, Tennessee, 2006. Jeff Danby (seated, middle) with George S. Burks (seated right). 1st Lt George S. Burks was the executive officer of L Company, 15th Infantry Regiment during the invasion of southern France. He later became company commander and was seriously wounded in November 1944. Despite his horrific experiences, George maintained an great wit and an infectious laugh–as captured by this photo.
